Microbiological culture and evaluation of the oral cavity
An imbalance in the oral cavity can affect the entire body. Research shows that certain oral bacteria can enter the bloodstream and cause diseases throughout the body (e.g., cardiovascular problems, miscarriage). In addition, pathogenic bacteria can be transmitted through droplet infection.

Periodontal status assessment with consultation
During the consultation, we measure the depth of the gum pockets around the teeth using a periodontal probe. We determine whether there is bone loss or soft tissue loss around the teeth. We also use the periodontal probe to check for signs of inflammation in the gums. We examine the mobility of the teeth and make a treatment recommendation.
Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy
During treatment, methylene blue dye is injected into the gingival sulcus and, after waiting for 1 minute, the treated area is illuminated with laser light. The amount of pathogenic bacteria can be reduced to as little as one millionth, while leaving the resident flora of the oral cavity unaffected. A total of 3 treatments are recommended, once a week.
Controlled biofilm therapy
We stain the teeth using a cotton swab soaked in a special plaque disclosing agent, which makes all plaque visible to the naked eye. First, we remove any tartar, if present, and then remove the stained biofilm from the tooth surfaces and under the gums using a 14-micron erythritol powder-water mixture. If the plaque has not yet hardened into tartar, there is no need for ultrasonic tartar removal; the use of airflow is sufficient. With appropriate frequency of targeted biofilm therapy and a good home oral care routine, this can be achieved in almost all cases!
Learning the correct toothbrushing technique with plaque disclosing
The Matos Dental dental clinic is an Oral-B demonstration clinic. During the training, we stain the teeth with a cotton swab soaked in dye and show the patient the areas covered with plaque in a mirror. The stained areas help us analyze any difficulties with brushing technique and help us eliminate them in the future.
Prenatal screening
It is particularly important to have your teeth checked before you decide to have a baby. It is not only important to check for cavities, but also for gum disease. Inflamed gums can spread harmful bacteria throughout the body, which can be dangerous for the fetus. At the same time, dental care for expectant mothers is more difficult: they cannot have X-rays taken, and antibiotics are not recommended unless absolutely necessary. Therefore, we recommend dental treatment before planning to have a baby. Once you become pregnant, visit your dentist as soon as possible, because time is of the essence!
